Active Armed Offender Training - WorkSafe Secure
Active Armed Offender is the training accreditation suitable for people who are required to learn how to respond in an armed offender situation.
Our 3-hour course focuses on the key role that you can play in developing and implementing appropriately informed preparedness and response arrangements to reduce the risks posed by the threat of active armed offenders.
The Active Armed Offender training course focuses on key areas including:
- Procedures – Ensure dedicated procedures are in place to reduce the risks posed by the threat of active armed offenders
- Training – Undertake training to respond to an active armed offender incident
- Assistance – Have on hand and use active armed offender safety posters
- Safety – ESCAPE if you can, otherwise SHELTER IN PLACE, and prepare to TAKE ACTION to protect life
Course Details
WorkSafe Connect’s Armed Offender training reflects the guidelines established by the Australia New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee (ANZCTC).
By the end of the Active Armed Offender course, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of active armed offender procedures and subsequent response management including knowledge relating to:
- Definition
- Threat context
- Primary objectives
- Initial response
- Escape
- Shelter in place
- Take action
- Communicate
- Police arrival
Training will be conducted by one of our highly experienced trainer assessors.
Practical and theoretical activities drive the training experience to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant with the following training tools used:
- Case studies
- Demonstrations
- Discussions
- Scenario interaction

To complete the course, students must successfully complete assessments which are all completed during the course – no assessment activities need to be completed prior to or post the training course.
