Online - Refresher - Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Training
Please be aware that as at 13 August 2024, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) informed all training providers that the delivery of Online HSR training via connected real time delivery (CRTD) will no longer be allowed.
If students are in a remote or regional location (and there are no RTO's who deliver this course within the the entire region), an exceptional course-by-course application can be submitted to WHSQ for consideration. For an employer group with multiple remote / regional HSR's to be trained, please contact us with a list of student names and their locations. From there, WorkSafe Connect will seek approval from WHSQ (whstraining@oir.qld.gov.au). If approval is granted, please get in touch with us to discuss online course options.
If you have difficulty in finding a local provider and meeting your legislative requirements, we encourage you to contact whstraining@oir.qld.gov.au for further feedback and guidance. Alternatively, our HSR trainers can travel to employer sites throughout Queensland – please get in touch to discuss client-site / face-to-face course options.
The 1-day Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Refresher course is designed to renew the knowledge and skills students obtained during their initial 5-day initial HSR training course.
With a focus on delivering flexible training options, WorkSafe Connect delivers the Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Refresher course online through live video led training. Regardless of your location, as long as you have access to the technology requirements (set out in Course Delivery below) then you are able to take advantage of this delivery method.
Under the Work Health & Safety Regulations, existing HSRs must now complete HSR refresher training every 12 months after the initial training (the previous period was every 3 years). If refresher training is not undertaken within this 12 month timeframe, it's likely the HSR will need to attend the five (5) day initial Health and Safety Representative course again.
Noting this recent change to the refresher duration, we have sought clarification from WHSQ regarding the new 12-month refresher requirement – if you are a current HSR and it has been more than 12 months since your last HSR course (initial or refresher), you should complete the 1-day refresher program as soon as practicable.
WorkSafe Connect has been delivering workplace health and safety training for over 15 years. Our online HSR training focuses on delivering engaging and practical training - all students are engaging with the trainer and other students throughout the course.
The delivery method is also referred to as "CRTD" (Connected Real Time Delivery).
Existing Health and Safety Representatives are entitled to attend a 1-day HSR Refresher course at least every 12 montths.
During the HSR Refresher course, students will cover the following topics:
